One of the best known symbols of Japan is certainly Mount Fuji: the highest mountain in the entire archipelago. Together with Mount Hakusan and Mount Tateyama it is considered by Shinto one of the three sacred mountains and for this reason it is recommended to go there on pilgrimage at least once in a lifetime.
